Lilac, the hottest series of social mixers for gay professionals, takes a field trip to Claremont. Why Claremont? Through a friend of a friend of a friend, Marc, the host of Lilac, was introduced to a most fabulous fondue jazz club. Hip Kitty opened last year in a renovated packing plant in downtown Claremont, surprisingly sophisticated, surrounded by restaurants, interesting shops, and live/work lofts, all next to a train depot with direct service from Union Station.

Hip Kitty features live jazz music each night, including this Sunday during Lilac. The decor is seriously 1960's kitsch, with fondue pots, 60's hanging light fixtures, and an entire wall of 1960's cityscape paintings, all collected by the owner, Nancy Lopez. The fondue is great, and so is the creative extensive cocktail menu.

The first time I saw Dry Hump, I laughed so hard, milk came out of my nose. I'm lactose-intolerant.
Fun for the whole family? Not really, unless you come from an alcoholic family of ex-cons living in a trailer park that is obsessed with your own shit. Not for the faint in spirit, Dry Hump is sketch comedy that goes for the jugular. Expect low-brow/high-concept, or at least come high (or drunk) - you will enjoy yourself that much more...

"Regurgitarded" is an amalgamation of 5 years of the groups funniest shit, stemming back to their Chicago days... And a mix of material from their L.A. shows. Returning is our very own Janell Cox's "Cameltoe Cathy", a gay death metal band, a pube barber, Christina Aguilera-riffing turrets and SO MUCH MORE (Hint: every show ends with a dance finale). Not to be missed!

True Colors TourHot & Out by Penny Arrabiata

CYNDI LAUPER’S True Colors Tour had its final stop at the Greek Theatre on Saturday. I’m not a fan of daylight concerts but this one went well into the night and picked up speed with the setting sun and a shapely and soothing DEBORAH HARRY. When did she become soothing and when did she start looking like my Aunt Carol? Doesn't matter, my Aunt Carol is hot. After dark ERASURE took the stage and could have set Griffith Park on fire…again…with “Oh l’Amour." So good live I can’t tell you.

The always hilarious MARGARET CHO worked the crowd in between bands and really kept the show moving. ROSIE O’DONNELL was also on the tour and guess what? She’s really funny. After all this crap with “The View” I totally forgot she was a comedian and a good one.
