Shoes are the new black!!!!! Forget the outfit....it is what is on your feet that counts! The bigger the better so you can stop traffic anywhere you go. We see Angie Harmon in some exceptional prada's, Heidi Montag at her HEIDIWOOD launch at Kitson in Chloe, SJP (my fave fashionista) and Heidi in the same (GASP!!!) Balenciaga gladiator heels and Nicole Richie just out and about in her Balenciaga shoe-could-be-possible-weapons. They are big, bold and completely OTT! (OTT= Over the top). You can find some really cute ones at www.zappos.com, www.cusp.com and of course my fav.... www.intermixonline.com.
Thank you baby Jesus for getting rid of those God-awful "headbands that tied into a massive bow underneath the ponytail" last spring. And thank you even more for bringing back the hippier (is that a word?), thick and thin bands that fit around your head halo-style. Whether it is a thin band or a scarf from Kitson, this look is way hotter and much more rockstar than last year's "whatever the f*** those were".
*Urban Outfitters has the best looking ones. If you can't bear the traffic to get to the actual store to try some on, that would probably be best... but if you can't, go to urbanoutfitters.com. and look at the headscarves & headwraps. They are great looking.
The hot talk this week is the "borderline corpse look with a touch of glamour" seen everywhere this past weekend. Sophisticated starlets such as Nicole Ritchie and Mischa Barton were seen sporting burnt copper eyeshadows, clean black eyeliner, and barely there cheeks and lips.
The key to getting this look is to apply a silver-based pink copper shadow, such as Holly Doss' "Possession", to the lower lid, and add a red copper in the crease such as "Morroco". Keep your eyeliner black, clean, and smudge free. Use a neutral blush and keep your lips nude. Top off with a clear gloss to bring your face back to life!
How do you like your coffee? Black? or with Cream? In this case- BOTH! Cream and Black is the right now combination on red carpets in lala land and abroad. We see hot mommas like Kate Holmes and Nicole Richie rockin this trend this last weekend. We also see the 'IT' girls like Mischa Barton and Carrie Underwood prancin at pre-grammy parties in black and cream. It is such a classic look but a bold one at the same time. Do you know how hard it is to wear cream and still look skinny? Well they all attempted and it WORKED!
I would love for her to prove me wrong, but Nicole Richie's Solar return chart this week poses a couple of dilemmas that people far older and under less public scrutiny might be hard-pressed to weather gracefully. Richie celebrates her 26th birthday this Friday and with Mars opposing Pluto and both planets squaring her Sun this year will challenge her and cause conflicts in her life that are far from comfortable. She will be forced to define herself powerfully because circumstances will provoke survival instincts. Adding to the tumult, she'll be buoyed by a profound sense of romantic idealism brought about by the exact Venus / Neptune opposition that day. She may trust someone close to her who later turns out to be not so trustworthy. On the other hand, weathering these challenges could ultimately lead to greater confidence, stronger choices, and a better sense of what makes her world one she wants to live in. Also, that Venus / Neptune opposition bodes well for her continuing fashion slam dunks and red carpet glamor! Good luck, little monkey! Remember: we all have to grow up sometime, at least you make it LOOK pretty!
