FLIRT FOR A CAUSE

Flirt for a Cause, an organization that holds fundraisers geared towards singles and couples looking for fun and romance, is hosting its first event this Valentine’s Day weekend. The evening will raise awareness and funds for Children of Our Villages, an organization that empowers orphaned and at-risk youth through filmmaking and self-expression workshops.

Flirt for a Cause’s launch event on Friday, February 12th, 2010 from 7PM to midnight, will support the youth of Witvlei, Namibia and Children of Our Villages programs in Los Angeles and Southern Africa. The event is being held at CAFÉ-CLUB FAIS DO-DO (5257 West Adams Blvd in mid-city). Festivities will include: swing/ballroom dance lessons, a create-a-Valentine station for the children of Witvlei, a create-your-own-music-video, games, raffles, prizes, food, and live entertainment. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Children of Our Villages is a collaboration of American and Namibian filmmakers committed to open dialogue and action concerning the HIV/AIDS orphan crisis in our world. Founders, Erin Buckley of Los Angeles and Christi Warner of Windhoek, Namibia met while working on HIV prevention plays which toured the township of Katutura in Namibia. This December, the 19 children at the Witvlei Orphanage will create a film of their own with a professional team of filmmakers and teaching artists from Children of Our Villages. Please take a stand to give children everywhere a voice, and to put an end to the cycles of neglect, disease, and poverty. Donate here today!

Says Buckley, "The film that the kids create will not only inspire action worldwide, but also, the process of collaboration and creativity will give each child a sense of identity, belonging, and empowerment!"

Chrissy’s best friend, Maxine (Mindy Raymond), shows up when her relationship is on the rocks. Chrissy must choose between her finals and her friendship. Chad (David Flaherty),Chrissy’s boyfriend,and her colorful regulars help her keep Max’s spirits high and the drinks flowing. As Chrissy tends to a bar full of problems she is forced to face her own.

Writing WASTED began in 2006, however, the ideas, characters, and concepts were with them long before. As bartenders, they were witness to many affected by addiction: that overpowering urge for something outside oneself. And before they knew it, addiction had slowly crept into their own lives.

15th Annual Revelation Conference: Quantum Quickening: Are You Ready? Hot Wholeness by Erin Buckley

There is no time like spring to do a little soul cleaning! The 15th Annual Revelations Conference was held right here in LA, at the Westin at LAX THIS WEEKEND, April 17-20th !! Rev. Michael Beckwith, of The Secret, and founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center guaranteed the Conference to be " a transformational, interactive, and intergenerational experience of unconditional love, inspiration, and a deeper understanding of the spiritual principles that govern the universe."

The speakers included Dr. Sue Morter, mind/body wellness expert, Bishop Carlton D. Pearson, author, speaker and recording artist, Van Jones, a visionary, green advocate and co-founder of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights promoting justice, opportunity and peace, and Dr. David R. Hawkins, a psychiatrist, physician, researcher, and pioneer in the fields of consciousness research and spirituality. The Revelation 2008 program also included sacred ceremonies, music, spoken word, and dance presentations by the Agape performance ministries.

This Friday, take off your striking shoes, and put on your party moves! After almost 3 months of walking the line, Strike Captain and HIH supporter, Katherine Fugate, wanted to create an evening of music, dance, and fun to thank all those in the entertainment industry who've sacrificed so much to support the writers. BandAid will benefit the Industry Support Fund, which supports non-writers, and below the line crew directly affected by the WGA strike. Admission is free, but cash and check donations will be gratefully accepted at the door, and are completely tax-deductible. Katherine Fugate is the creator and executive producer of ARMY WIVES, Lifetime's most successful series, starring Kim Delaney and Catherine Bell. Fugate, accomplished screenwriter and guild activist, is also Barbara Eden's niece!

She built it, and so they came! Phil Alden Robinson, writer and director of "Field of Dreams," will play with his band, The Possibilities. Robinson serves on the Board of Directors of the WGA West. Incendio is a hot "latin guitar world fusion" band,leading the indie instrumental music scene! Next up, Lili Haydn, renowed singer/songwriter and violinist, will play with her band. She has performed with everyone from Funkadelic to Robert Plant, Sting, and Josh Groban. Also, Shelly Goldstein, international cabaret singer and writer for TV and film, will also grace the stage. Goldstein has written for artists such as Steve Martin, Sharon Stone, and Liza Minnelli. BandAid will be hosted by Doug Spearman, who starred in the television series, Noah's Arc on LOGO. Spearman also serves in many areas of the gay and lesbian community such as Lifeworks Mentoring in West Hollywood, and is a board member of Equality California.

Everyone in LA is looking for an audience! But you'd be hard-pressed to find a more appreciative audience than the residents of the Brentwood Nursing Home in Santa Monica. This Sunday, January 27th at 2:30pm, The Agape Road Show performs with the Brentwood residents, led by actress and singer, Catherine Yerly. It's an interactive show that involves a variety of group and solo songs and performances. Anyone can show up with a song, skit, joke, or just ready to have a blast! Not only are some of the (Brentwood) residents former actors, themselves, but in the past, celebrity musicians have been known to pop in and rock out!

Under the direction of Cornell Christianson, The Agape Road Show, a ministry of the Agape International Spiritual Center, performs 6 times a month in both Los Angeles and NYC. They provide uplifting entertainment at hospitals, nursing homes, and prisons.
