HELP THE GREEN GODDESS SMOKE UP THE BIG SCREEN!

Attention independent film (and marijuana) lovers!

Director/editor Craig Nisker is in post-production on his feature-film debut, The Green Goddess, and you can do your part to help bring this globetrotting adventure to a big screen near you. You can get all the details over here, but before you do, check out Craig's message below.

"Our movie came about from an ad in High Times Magazine. Many years ago, our producer Marc Schultz wanted to make the ultimate pot movie. So he put a quarter page ad in High Times for readers to send in their stoner stories. All he got was garbage. So he gave up.

Two years later, he received a call from an American living in Switzerland, who had seen a the ad. Future executive producer Chris Iverson told Marc that he had money, and was planning to grow six football fields of marijuana (which was legal to grow in Switzerland at the time). Marc's response, "You're that much of a stoner that it took you two years to get off the couch and call me?" Still, it was SIX football fields.

Planting season was imminent. Marc had just five short weeks to cast and crew up the movie, buy all the gear, get everything to Switzerland, and be ready to shoot." And that's what they did.

It is my pleasure to be the first to introduce you to The Green Goddess. This film has 7.5 acres, 25,000 plants, and 1600 kilos of real marijuana, all grown legally in Switzerland six years ago. A story was written around one harvest season in which cast and crew grew and harvested 6 football fields of Real Marijuana.

The Green Goddess is the latest directorial effort by Director/Editor Craig Nisker. I find myself in the position of an Executive Producer seeking finishing funds of $75,000 to complete our visual effects. Click this link here to view the trailer.

A Hot Mix O' Music Hot Mix by Craig Nisker

Have you ever watched a girl DJ do her thing behind the turntables? It's a little more interesting than your typical male. The men are always so serious, barely looking up to acknowledge those in the room. Typically, you'll hear nothing but self-indulgent choices from the DJ, which rarely reflect the taste of the crowd...while speakers blare over your conversation.

But the women, they're more interesting. They smile, they interact, simply put...they play music BETTER than the boys do.

Shejay's Big Chocolate will appear at Hot Mix next Friday, and she'll be mixing things up with sexy and eclectic selections: dance, rock, soul, hip hop and all kinds of electronica like you've never heard it. And you won't have to strain your voice to hear...

Burning Man 2008! Hot Tips by Craig Nisker

Burning Man tickets went on sale yesterday morning and in a matter of hours 10,000 tickets @ $210 were sold out, 10,000 @ $225 were sold out. There are now $250 tickets on sale but there will be only 10,000 of these sold. After that they will be available for $295. THERE WILL BE NO TICKETS SOLD AT THE GATE THIS YEAR! Cast and Crew Needed Hot "in Development" by Craig Nisker

Cast & Crew needed for the movie The Green Goddess

This is a non-union ultra-low budget feature film, and we have FIVE days left to complete shooting. This will be the “Rocky Horror” of stoner films. See website for more details.

Shooting dates are Sunday December 2nd until Thursday December 6th.

CASTING:

Earl (two shooting days)- A mysterious DJ who carries around a talking gnome. He has Multiple Sclerorsis and uses marijuana as medicine for it. He needs hand crutches to walk. He is able to invoke magical realistic happenings. He can be any race and is over 30 years old.

Defense Attorney (one shooting day)- Imagine if Hunter S. Thompson were the top marijuana defense lawyer in Northern California. He is over the top. (see Johnny Depp in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"). He can be any race and is over 30 years old. We're not looking for an imitation of Thompson, we're looking wild-character creation.

The Green Goddess (one shooting day)- The title character, she is the divine spirit that lives within the THC crystal of the marijuana plant. Upon meeting her she gives a message of enlightenment and the benefits of cannabis. She can be any race. The costume for the Green Goddess will be body paint and panties, so the actress must be comfortable with this. The set will be closed to all non-essential personnel.)

The Gnome (two shooting days)- a voice part only for a puppet. It is a comedic part with plenty of opportunity for some improve and silliness.

Life's a Drag Hot Filx by Craig Nisker

I saw an amazing film at AFI fest this week called "Manuela y Manuel" (in Spanish with subtitles). Puerto Rican filmmaker Raul Marchand has created a fantastic romp that is a new twist on the old "Victor Victoria" story, only in this film the drag queens are real, the singing is fake and the emotional connection to the characters is deep. From the first shot the viewer can't help but fall in love with drag queen Manuela because we can all relate to her/his broken heart. The film explores how we all crave love and the sacrifices we make if there is just a hope of getting it, all while keeping the audience laughing and completely charmed. Chock full of fantastic performances, elegant camera movement, stylish costumes, fun musical numbers, wacky characters and a charming story that will leave you smiling, director Marchand proves with "Manuela y Manuel" that you don't need much money to make a great film. If you hurry you may be able to catch it at AFI Fest at the Arclight.

Green Goddess...420 The MovieHot in Development by Michael Medico

Our pal Craig Nisker originally was hired on this film as the editor. But by the third morning on the set, they made him director. Yep, it's a film about medical marijuana. He got involved because his sister has multiple sclerosis, and could really use that kind of prescription. So he thought this film could help.

The film is called "The Green Goddess," and the main shooting location was SIX football fields of medical marijuana in the foothills of the Swiss Alps. They had an international cast & crew (from 18 countries), shot in four countries, and are about to complete shooting next month in one more country: here in California!
