HIH's Leslie and Baylen Thomas check in to tell us about the new trend that's being adopted by restaurants all over town...
We loved her on Charlie Rose and now Alice Waters, founder of
Berkeley's well-known Chez Panisse restaurant and proponent of the Slow
Food Movement, can be seen in an interview with 60 Minute's Lesley Stahl.
“I
feel that good food should be a right and not a privilege and it needs
to be without pesticides and herbicides, and everybody deserves this
food.” claims Waters. "People have become aware that the way that we've been eating is making us sick."

I just went to an event just yesterday for Alice Waters honoring her Sustainable Food Project at the home of Peter Strauss and Rachel Ticotin in Ojai hosted by Greta Caruso. (yes... David was there).
The event was sponsored by the American Academy in Rome and the food was all local... and amazing. The Olives were even fresh off the trees. Everyone sat at long tables (32 to a table) and they were covered in Local wild flowers (from Peter and Rachael's garden) and oranges from there farm. It so elegant in it's rustic-ness. And most importantly the food was to die for. For dessert there was, of course, Olive Cake- it seems it is a must this season. The event really was slow and so relaxing. I feel people really got to connect. It also was in the afternoon and lazily progressed into the early evening. This is how I want to eat all the time!!!
