Just over a year old, Palihouse Holloway in West Hollywood is now one bumpin' brasserie. Quietly nestled behind the IHOP on Santa Monica Boulevard, you won't find here any obnoxious stragglers from the neighboring Barney's Beanery.
Last night we grabbed some drinks by the fireplace in the gorgeous lobby lounge, and in between sips of some Writer's Block (a vodka-lime-cucumber-apple-wine combo) and a couple of glances from Jeremy Piven in the next room, we took in the Parisian-meets-Silverlake decor and soaked in some tunes by a DJ spinning from a wooden antique dresser around the corner.
And did we mention Palihouse is a hotel too?
For those of you familiar with New York's Soho House, you get the picture. Borderline boho-chic and French-fierce, Palihouse is a great spot to lounge and get your buzz on, especially if you're fed up with the headachy Hollywood scene (so far, it's a paparazzi-free zone). Think of it as going over to your rich art collector friend's tasteful loft for a casual dinner party. And speaking of dinner, The Hall is where the food's at (don't worry, you can still order some crabcakes from your velvet chaise lounge in the lobby). The roofdeck lounge is also available when the weather warms up (the view up there: magnificent). Another best bet: stop by for lunch on a weekday afternoon to catch unshaven screenwriters typing away on their MacBooks as they graze on fruit-and-cheese plates.
*P.S. - And if you ARE into the Hollywood scene, don't fret...there's one opening in April on Vine.
