As I write this blog I'm sitting in my pajamas, eating some oatmeal and watching a recent Dolph Lundgren movie. I'm reminded of how much I really love looking at Dolph Lundgren. He's a long time favorite, and the decades have not dimmed his hotness. This gets me thinking of other stuff that makes me smile, and how another year is nearly over. And ALL OF THAT gets me thinking of making a special year end blog of my favorite stuff in 2008. So here's to you and to me and to surviving another year in the big city!
G.'S BEST OF WEHO, 2008.
Best Spa -- EUPHORIA FACE AND BODY on S.M. Blvd. As you know, I love this place. Great facials, waxing and massages AND great service.
Best Mexican food -- PINCHE'S TACOS on Sunset Blvd. at Havenhurst. My cholesterol level is through the roof, but it doesn't stop me from eating here several times every week.
Best Value Dining -- FRENCH QUARTER on S.M. Blvd. at Laurel Ave. The French Quarter has great food, good service and a fairly reasonable price, considering the large portions you get. I always make two meals out of every order. And the busboys are ON TOP of your drink refills like nothing I've ever seen.
Best Boutiques -- it's a tie for me between JUST ONE LA (across from the French Qtr.) and THE LEMON TREE BUNGALOW (next to Angelina's fro/yo) both are on S.M. Blvd. JUST ONE LA is where I buy my Aveda products and the service is always terrific. I've picked up cool bags and t-shirts there too, and if I were more daring I could shop for stripper underpants there until the cows come home. Also boasts a hair salon, and again the service is always friendly and helpful. LEMON TREE is usually where I start when I need to buy a gift for someone and I'm not sure what they'd like. They have something for nearly everyone and the service is always friendly and helpful. Gift wrapping is available and they do a nice job of it.
Best haircut -- My friend Victoria at RUDY'S BARBERSHOP on Melrose Ave. near Edinburgh, and also at the Standard Hotel on Sunset Blvd. Victoria is a great stylist and a terrific conversationalist. She shaves my head, trims my facial hair and massages my scalp! You can't lose!!!!!
STAY TUNED for Part 2 of G's Best of WeHo 2008!

Recent Dolph Lundgren movie?!?! Who knew?!
I lived on Laurel for two years and never once went to the French Quarter to eat. Odd.

i'll second your "besting" of pinche's tacos for best mexican food. the pollo mole and al pastor burritos are my favorites, but with all the business they're doing from serving that delicious comida, you'd think they could afford an air conditioner - it's like a sauna in there when ordering!!!
